A Metric Is Not a Signal

An unusual on-chain reading is an observation. It becomes a research signal only after the change is contextualized, independently confirmed, and connected to a defined decision horizon.


Four Parts of a Useful Signal

  1. Observation: what changed and relative to which baseline.
  2. Interpretation: why the change may matter.
  3. Confirmation: which independent conditions support the view.
  4. Invalidation: what would make the thesis less credible.

Prefer Different Evidence Families

Three versions of the same metric do not provide strong confirmation. Combine distinct evidence such as holder behavior, liquidity, realized activity, and market structure.

Keep Uncertainty Visible

A signal should communicate risk rather than disguise it. Strong research makes uncertainty easier to evaluate; it does not eliminate uncertainty.
